Meet Sri Lestari

Biker, Advocate and an Inspiration

At the age of 23, Sri was involved in a motorbike accident which left her paralysed from the waist down. Believing that she had no freedom or hope of a future, she spent the next ten years in her home, scared and depressed. In 2007, she was introduced to UCP RUK, who provided her with a wheelchair, empowering her with mobility and independence. She later acquired a modified scooter, which could be attached to her wheelchair without having to get in and out of the wheelchair.

When I got my modified motorcycle, my life changed
— Sri Lestari

Sri now works for UCP RUK and travels across Indonesia on her modified scooter, raising awareness, giving motivational speeches and promoting the rights of people with disabilities.

Inspirasia Foundation is a proud supporter of Sri and the work she does with UCP RUK and on her own. Since 2013, she has completed three long-distance inspirational journeys across Indonesia on her modified scooter, including a three-week journey across Sulawesi, covering 2,000 km. Sri plans to continue inspiring and spreading positive messages to all people with disabilities across Indonesia through her work at UCP RUK.

Since she regained her freedom, Sri has become a figure of inspiration and passion for people with disabilities and also those without
