PUSPADI collaborate with Udayana University to create a bionic leg design

Udayana University have selected one of Inspirasia Foundation’s grantees, PUSPADI Bali, as a partner for the development of a bionic limb.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Udayana University in Bali undertook extensive research to create a bionic leg design that uses an automatic control system which can adjust the stability of foot movement precisely and accurately. This bionic leg is equipped with a muscle sensor which is able to detect the movement of the muscles in the leg commanded by the brain, which is then transformed into motion via motors attached to the joints of the robot's leg. The aim of this hybrid control is for the bionic leg to produce optimal, accurate and fast response movements. The aim is for the control system on this bionic leg to be able to adjust the motion of the DC motor that is installed so that the leg can move according to the muscle reaction in the leg. The greater the muscle reaction, the higher the angle that must be reached by the leg robot.

We are very grateful for the good reception and service by the PUSPADI Bali team. And we are also sure that we have a vision through this collaboration that one day it will be able to provide benefits for people with disabilities
— Mr I Wayan Widhiada, S.T., MSc., Ph.D as the Head of the Research Team.

The development of a bionic leg or hand system will help empower people with disabilities through mobility, confidence and independence. Well done PUSPADI Bali for this collaboration! Stay tuned and follow our Facebook Page for updates on the development of this bionic leg!
