Learning how to speak in a language that your donor understands

A lasting relationship is built on a foundation of understanding. And it’s no different for relationships between nonprofits and their donors. Attracting new donors and keeping them engaged is essential to an organisation’s success. But what makes donors tick? And what do they really want from nonprofits?

During Annika Linden Centre’s NGO training series on Donor Perspective last month, four speakers – Louisa Attard from Inspirasia Foundation, Filipe Lopo from Como Group, Belinda Adams from Direct Aid Program of Australian Consulate and Ari Padma from Movenpick Hotel, explained that when supporting a project, donors want to see clarity and transparency, while also feeling a connection. Transparency in funding is one of the key areas that stakeholders want from nonprofits.

Meda Arifin and Sven Cupers also talked about understanding finance for the non-finance team and financial health in nonprofits. The program teams and finance teams of nonprofits also attended this workshop to learn how to understand each other’s needs and be better able to achieve their organization’s goals.

More than 30 participants from 15 local nonprofits in Bali participated in these two days of the Annika Linden Centre’s NGO training series. The Annika Linden Centre continues to work with professionals and businesses to build nonprofits’ capacity through various strategic training sessions in the NGO Training Series program.
